France Hyeres Coupe du monde

Lara Vadlau (KYCK) and her partner Eva-Maria Schimak (Upper Austria) got 2 top 10 placeS as well as further top results were sailed: (25, 46, 36, 27, 11, 4, 12, 3): Lara was able to leave her big role model Tina Lutz from Germany (3fold World Champion) behind her in her second World Cup performance.

Toni Ripoll (Spanish top trainer and now Lara’s trainer in the 470s) was so impressed by her performance, that he personally thanked the ÖSV-Sports director Funkdak for letting him work with such a sailing talent until the Olympics in London. The top performances are that Lara has already qualified for the World Championship in Perth, Australia after 2 World Cup regattas, where it’s about the international qualification for London.

Furthermore Lara has not experienced such a sport’s highlight yet:
The current and 3 fold Olympic medal winners from the USA (Maxwell Erin & Farar Isabella) have taken Lara into their hearts and called out tips to Lara on how she and her partner could sail faster and congratulated them to their tactical performance. Normally one sails with knives between the teeth in this class, Lara was so surprised and motivated by both top sailors that she made it ahead of both in the last race.

Lara dropped by her home in Klagenfurt shortly last Friday night to Saturday and then went on to a further regatta on the Neusiedlersee. On Monday there’s school with a Spanish exam and Sports matura in the Lerchenfeld gymnasium. The principal and the students are trying to support Lara that she can finish her school with little school attendance.

On Friday the Olympic training camp in Weymouth, London starts and then the UK regatta in the Olympic revere.
